Redon

Redon has a rich heritage: discover the Saint-Sauveur abbey, one of the largest in Brittany during the middle ages, the Château du Mail, the Richelieu tower, 18th century salt barns, many timber-framed houses…In Redon, water is everywhere: to the left, the Vilaine river and the old quays; to the right, the Nantes-Brest canal that crosses the river with a double lock system. In the distance, the dock that was built along with the canal.
 
A must, the Musée de la Batellerie (inland navigation museum): re-live the history and everyday life of the sailors; learn how the canal works, and about Redon, the sea-port.
